Terms of Business

About us
Equine Insurance Solutions (EIS),86a Easton Street, High Wycombe, HP11 1LT (part of UK Insurance Solutions Limited) is authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA). EIS is an intermediary who only offers quotes for this product, underwritten by Alpha Insurance A/S. We are permitted to arrange, advise on and deal with all claims in respect of non-investment insurance policies. Your duty of disclosure
The Quote Proposal and Statement of Fact form the basis of your insurance contract with insurers and it is important that you provide us with all the relevant information and that it is accurate. You must also disclose relevant information throughout the life of the policy and when you renew. You must check the details you have given us on the Quote Proposal and Statement of Fact to ensure the information is correct. Any errors must be notified to us within 14 days. Your attention is drawn to the Declaration on the Quote Proposal. Any failure to disclose all relevant information, or any inaccuracies in the information could invalidate your insurance. At renewal, you must sign the Renewal Form and Health Declaration.

How to cancel
If you decide not to continue with the policy within the first 14 days you will receive a full premium refund. If you decide not to continue with the policy after the first 14 days have passed, you will receive a premium refund for the un-expired portion of the insurance (full details can be found in the policy document. There is no refund of the administration fee.
In the event of a claim, the full annual premium must be paid and no return of premium will be given if the policy is cancelled.
Direct debits should not be cancelled without informing us as this could result in you appearing on a debtors list which we can do nothing to prevent.

Paying by Instalments
The only instalment facility available is direct debit and the loan facility is provided by Finsure Premium Finance Ltd.

Fees and charges
We charge and administration fee of £25 on all new policies, renewals, adjustments and cancellations.

Credit Card Payments
All credit card payments will attract a 2% charge. There will be no charge for debit card payments

Complaints
If you have any questions or concerns about this insurance or you wish to make a complaint, you should in the first instance contact the Managing Director, Equine Insurance Solutions, 86a Easton Street, High Wycombe, HP11 1LT. We will endeavour to deal with your complaint immediately, and will in any event acknowledge receipt within 5 days. We will endeavour to resolve your complaint within the time scales prescribed by the FSA. In the event that you remain dissatisfied you may either contact the chief executive of the insurer, or you have the right of referral to the Financial Ombudsman Service. Full details of the FSA's complaint procedure are available upon request.

Claims
You can notify us of a claim and request a claim form by calling 01494 446080. Failure to notify us of a potential claim within 60 days of the date the of the veterinary surgeon first attending will result in rejection of the claim. You will need to complete a claim form and this may require a report or claim form to be completed by your vet. The vet may charge a fee to do this, but this is not covered by your policy. Providing false information on any claim form could mean that your claim will not be paid and in certain cases could lead to prosecution. If you are paying your annual premium by monthly direct debit, claims will only be paid on the understanding that the remaining premiums will still be collected, and we reserve the right to request the remainder to be paid in full, prior to payment of the claim. In certain cases this may be deducted from the claim settlement.

Protecting your money
Before your premium is sent to the insurer, we hold your money as agent of the insurer, for your protection. Your money will be protected at all times in line with the FSA regulations. We reserve the right to keep any interest earned on your premium whilst it is held by us.
By accepting these Terms of Business you are giving us your consent to handle your money in this manner.

Compensation arrangements
This contract is covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS). You may be entitled to compensation if we cannot meet our obligations. Further information is available from the FSCS at www.fscs.org.uk

Protecting your information
All personal information about you will be treated as private and confidential (even if you are no longer a customer), except where the disclosure is made at your request or with your consent in relation to administering your insurance, and except where the law requires us. The FSA may ask us to provide it with access to our customer records in order that it may carry out a review of our activities. Some or all of the information you supply to us in connection with your insurance proposal may be passed to other insurance companies for underwriting or claims purposes. Under the Data Protection Act 1998 you have a right of access to see the personal data held by us about you, whether manually or electronically.
